| Over the first years the
fleet gradually expanded to five F27 aircraft operating both
passengers and cargo.
In 1996 it was decided to focus on air freight only. With the
introduction of Boing 727 it was possible to join the fast growing
networks within the parcelexpress company UPS.
The first routes Star Air operated for UPS was: Cologne -
Zaragoza - Oporto and Cologne - Bergamo - Rome. But as the package
volume increased the 727 was soon outgrown. With only eight
containers on main deck and a few more in the cargo compartment the
727 simply couldn't match the increasing cargo volume.
In 2001 Star Air got the first of four Boing 757-200PF. But once
again the package volume increased and Star Air acquired 11 Boeing
767-200 SF, delivered from March 2005 to September 2006,
simultaneously phasing out the 757
The 767's are all painted in Star Air's colors, white and blue
with the characteristic 7-pointed white Maersk-star logo, whereas
the 727's and 757's were painted in UPS colors and logo.
The 767-200SF holds 19 containers on the main deck and 11 in the
lower cargo compartment.
